The 2025 handball Champions League Climax over the weekend at Old Kampala Arena were Police and UPDF Handball Clubs Crowned the Winners of women and men’s Category.
The event that climaxed the weekend’s activity was officiated by Omar Ali the Futsal Association of Uganda EXCO Member and attended by UHF’s Heads of Technical Commissions amongst over 520 fans and spectators.
The Uganda police handball club Defended the champions league women category after beating prison’s handball club home and away ( 32-31) ,(34-36) to win the second concusetive title in a closely competitive encounters.
Kwiochwyn Brenda and Ayikoru Bridget are students from Gombe ss put up impressive Performance for police handball club and are very promising players .
In media brief with Police Handball Club coach, Aziz Yakubu thanked the “focus and teamwork” of his players throughout the handball Champions league.
“Everyone is happy for winning this tournament, it was also an opportunity in preparation of other regional and continental tournaments of which we will be part,” Aziz Yakubu said.
In the Men’s category, UPDF were crowned Champions for a 3rd consecutive season having overcome Makerere University HC in the Finals 33 – 49. Makerere University dumped Ndejje University on Saturday through a bye to book a final berth while UPDF beat Prisons in the semi finals enroute to the finals.
Ndejje University, Uganda People’s Defence Force (UPDF), Prisons and Makerere University were the men’s teams while Police, Prisons, Victoria University and Ndejje University face off in the women category.
The teams that take part in this championship qualify to represent the Country in the Regional Club Championship (ECAHF) and the winners are expected to represent Uganda in CAHB Competitions (Champions League and Cup Winners Cup).
The Champions League is a knock-out championship that brings together the Top 4 teams of the last season in a Season’s opener.
