After enduring a tough campaign that left them languishing in 11th place with just 36 points, Police FC are quietly reshaping themselves into a side that refuses to settle for mediocrity. The Cops have turned to experience and proven quality as they begin their rebuild, and their latest recruits signal clear ambition.

Deus Bukenya

The acquisition of Deus Bukenya is more than just a transfer — it’s a return of a seasoned professional whose journey has taken him from Uganda’s top flight to Botswana and Tanzania. Once a reliable figure at Vipers and Express, Bukenya has grown into a versatile player capable of filling multiple roles, from central defence to midfield. His trademark diagonal passes and composure under pressure are exactly the attributes Police lacked last season.

Alongside him comes left-back Richard Matovu, whose time at Vipers SC has exposed him to the rigors of title-chasing football. With pace and endurance as his greatest weapons, Matovu has built a reputation for stability at the back and adventure going forward. His addition not only strengthens Police’s defensive unit but also adds width and dynamism to their play.

Behind the scenes, the club is working on more reinforcements, with midfielder Said Kyeyune (Express FC) and striker Charles Bbaale (formerly at Villa) expected to join the fold. Though not officially unveiled, their presence would give the Cops both creativity in midfield and firepower in attack.

For a side that has struggled to live up to its potential in recent years, these moves are more than squad upgrades — they’re statements of intent. With Bukenya’s leadership, Matovu’s energy, and the expected arrival of more talent, Police FC are beginning to look like a team determined to compete, not just survive, in the new season.
