Uganda Cranes head coach Paul Put has praised his players’ effort and attitude during training in Marrakech, Morocco, as the team gears up for friendlies against Cameroon on June 6 and Gambia on June 9.

After two days in camp, Put said the players showed good sharpness and teamwork despite coming off long club seasons and travel fatigue.

“The boys have done well. It’s never easy after club seasons and travel, but today was encouraging,” he noted.

The friendlies are part of Uganda’s build-up to the 2026 World Cup Qualifiers and the CHAN tournament in August, which Uganda will co-host with Kenya and Tanzania.

Put said the matches will help refine the team’s identity and assess squad depth, especially with several key players, including Steven Mukwala, sidelined by injury.

“This is a chance for others to prove themselves. We have new faces and it’s a good mix,” he added.

He also emphasized unity in the squad, saying, “We are one team, local or foreign based, we play for the same flag.”

The upcoming games will help shape the Cranes squad ahead of a busy competitive calendar.
