Uganda’s U20 Women’s National Team is gearing up for one of its biggest challenges yet—the FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup qualifiers—with head coach Sheryl Ulanda Botes unveiling a 32-player provisional squad to battle Namibia in a crucial doubleheader later this month.

The two-legged clash, slated for 19th and 22nd September 2025, represents more than just qualification matches; it is a chance for the Queen Cranes to edge closer to making history on the global stage.

The youthful side, a blend of seasoned campaigners and rising prospects from domestic women’s football, will assemble at FUFA Hotel in Kisasi tomorrow to begin an intensive training camp. For many of the players, this is an opportunity not only to fight for World Cup qualification but also to showcase their talent to the rest of the continent.

Uganda has never reached the U20 Women’s World Cup, but the momentum around the women’s game continues to build. With Botes at the helm and a growing pool of local talent, the Queen Cranes see Namibia as the first hurdle in what could be a defining journey.
