Donald Rukare has been confirmed as the new President Association of National Olympic Committees of Africa (ANOCA) – Zone V for the next four-year term after the elections that took place during the General Assembly held on March 9, 2025, in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

This well-deserved recognition reflects his unwavering dedication and leadership in advancing the Olympic movement, starting with Uganda.

In a brief with Rora media, Donald Rukare stated, “Am honored to start this new journey as President of Association of National Olympic Committee of Africa (ANOCA).”

“I don’t take for granted the role entrusted to me and the entire team. The goal is to promote sports made in Africa on and off the field,” he added.

ANOCA Zone V comprises of 11 National Olympic Committees (NOCs) from Eastern Africa, including Burundi, Egypt, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Kenya, Rwanda, Somalia, Sudan, South Sudan, Tanzania, and Uganda.

The Newly Elected Executive Board Members of ANOCA Zone V:

Donald Rukare (Uganda): President

Umulinga Alice (Rwanda): Vice President

Francis Mutuku (Kenya): Secretary General

Tong Chor Malek Deran (South Sudan): Treasurer

Bigirimana Salvator (Burundi): Board Member

Michael Teklemichael (Eritrea): Board Member

Mohamed Abdow Haji (Somalia): Board Member
