Uganda Cranes head coach Paul Put has named the pool of 26 players to prepare for Mozambique and Guinea in the up-coming FIFA World Cup 2026 group G double header.

The squad was released during the official press conference today Monday 10th March 2025 at FUFA Complex, Mengo.

The pool has both foreign based and players from the StarTimes Uganda Premier League that will further be trimmed before travel to Mozambique.

The nine Local based players include Goal Keeper Mutakubwa Joel (Bul fc), Defenders Gavin Kizito Mugweri (KCCA FC) and Viper’s Rojers Torach, Abdul Karim Watambala and Allan Okello. NEC’s Enock Ssebagala and SC Villa’s Ronald Sekiganda and Kakande Patrick, plus Jude Ssemugabi (kitara) were summoned.

Uganda Cranes are Fifth in group G with with six points from four games having won Somalia (0-1) and Botswana (1-0) while losing two games against Guinea (2-1) and Algeria (1-2).

The matches are scheduled for 20th and 25th March respectively, with the first encounter (Mozambique) taking place away in Cairo, Egypt before the team returns to play Guinea at Mandela National stadium, Namboole.
