Fresh off their triumphant Celtic Cup campaign in Scotland, the She Cranes have little time to soak in the celebrations as preparations pivot sharply toward the Africa Netball Cup scheduled for December 8–14 in Malawi.
The team jetted back into the country on Tuesday, but their stay will be brief they are slated to depart again on Saturday for yet another demanding international assignment. The rapid turnaround has left the squad working against the clock, though coach Rashid Mubiru remains upbeat about their competitive edge.
Mubiru acknowledged the challenge of limited recovery and training time but emphasized the positives gained in Glasgow. “The team set although we have little time to recovery. But we managed to improve so much after playing in the Celtic Cup. We hope to use this same experience in the Africa Cup”, he said.
With the Africa Netball Cup played in significantly hotter conditions, the She Cranes must also adjust from Scotland’s cold climate to Malawi’s warmer temperatures yet Mubiru insists they will be ready to compete.
Uganda will battle in Group A, drawn alongside Kenya, Zimbabwe and Namibia. Group B features hosts Malawi, defending champions South Africa, Botswana and Tanzania.
The squad is expected to undergo slight adjustments from the team that lifted the Celtic Cup, with star shooter Mary Nuba Cholhok will not available due to club obligations a potential setback as Uganda chases continental glory.

Wow, that’s amazing to see them shifting gears so quickly! Wishing the She Cranes all the best as they head to the Africa Netball Cup.
