Lilongwe, Malawi – Uganda’s spirited campaign at the Africa Netball Cup culminated in a silver medal finish this evening, as the She Cranes were defeated by a clinical South Africa side in the final.
The Proteas showcased their regional dominance, securing the title with a commanding 56-34 victory.
While the loss is a difficult pill to swallow for the Ugandan faithful, the She Cranes have much to be proud of after a strong tournament run that saw them reach the ultimate contest.

Proteas’ Blitz Proves Too Much
South Africa, who were the reigning champions, wasted no time in establishing their superiority. Their sharp attacking play and watertight defense immediately put the She Cranes under immense pressure.
The early 16-7 lead in the first quarter set the tone. Though the She Cranes battled hard, reducing the deficit at times, the Proteas consistently responded, extending their lead to 27-16 at halftime. The third quarter saw the South Africans pull away decisively, reaching 44-26 before closing out the game 56-34 to successfully defend their African title.
