Shell V-Power has been unveiled as the title sponsor of the Pearl of Africa Uganda Rally (POAUR), solidifying a continued partnership between Vivo Energy Uganda and the Federation of Motorsport Clubs of Uganda (FMU). The rally is scheduled for May 8th-10th, 2024, in Mbarara, covering a total distance of 486.26 km.
Vivo Energy Uganda has committed UGX 100 million to FMU, supporting local motorsport development. Managing Director Joanita Mukasa Menya stated, “We’re proud to be the title sponsor of POAUR, reflecting our commitment to Uganda’s motorsport community.”
The event will serve as the second round of the African Rally Championship (ARC) and the third round of the National Rally Championship (NRC). FMU officials, including President Hon. Jimmy Akena and General Secretary Reynolds Kibira, welcomed the partnership and promised a safe and successful event.
By sponsoring POAUR, Shell V-Power and Vivo Energy Uganda aim to promote motorsport, support talented drivers, and contribute to the country’s sporting ecosystem.
