Tanzania’s Dar City Basketball Club has secured the signing of six international players from various countries, including the United States, Europe, and Nigeria, as part of their strategy to strengthen the team ahead of the African Cup of Nations (BAL) qualifiers.

The team’s head coach, Mohamed Mbwana, confirmed that they have registered a total of 12 new players for the upcoming season. Of these, six are international recruits and six are from the domestic league.

The new international players include two from France, two from the United States, and two from Nigeria. Mbwana expressed confidence that these additions will play a crucial role in helping the team perform well in international competitions.

“Thank you to all Tanzanians for your continued support. A new chapter is beginning for us. We have prepared well in terms of player registrations and are ready for the league, as well as for the African championship qualifiers. We promise to deliver a strong performance. Your prayers are invaluable to us, especially to the Tanzanians who love basketball,” Mbwana said.

He continued, “Rest assured, basketball in Tanzania is in safe hands with us. We represent the country with pride, and we hope that future generations will follow in our footsteps to ensure the continued growth of the sport.”

Dar City recently finished third in the Special Genocide Memorial Tournament held in Rwanda, and the team is already gearing up for other friendly tournaments scheduled in Morocco. The Dar es Salaam Regional League will also kick off on May 8 this year.

Coach Mbwana noted that participating in the Rwanda tournament has helped the team build unity, especially after the arrival of the new players.
