The National Council of Sports (NCS) has revealed that six sports governing bodies failed to submit their registration applications before the June 20, 2025 deadline, as required by the National Sports Act.

The affected bodies include Uganda Ultimate Frisbee Association, Uganda Flow Sports, Uganda Deaf Sports Federation, Association of Uganda University Sports, Uganda Body Building and Fitness Association, and Uganda Rollball Association.

NCS General Secretary Dr. Bernard Patrick Ogwel stated that 45 out of 51 federations/associations submitted their applications on time, but the six missing bodies set to face possible deregistration if they failed to respond in the next three weeks.

Also NCS received eight objections in respect of applications from Uganda boxing federation, Uganda table tennis association, cricket Uganda, Uganda darts association, Uganda draughts association, Uganda Lacrosse Association, Uganda Rowling federation and VX Uganda.

The eight applications against which objections were lodged and additionally information availed were reviewed and assessed after NCS had duly determined the objections.

Ogwel emphasized that government support for sports remains intact, with investments in infrastructure, but federations must comply with regulations.

“The law is clear: by June 2026, only compliant federations will be gazetted. Those that fail to meet requirements will have their certificates revoked,” Ogwel warned.

He criticized some federations for fabricating documents without conducting real activities, urging them to account for their structures and grassroots presence.
