The stage is set for Uganda’s football giants to test their readiness ahead of the new season as the 2025 FUFA Super 8 tournament swings into action later this month. FUFA on Thursday confirmed fixtures and venues for the preseason showpiece, which has become the traditional launchpad for Uganda Premier League (UPL) battles.
This year’s edition kicks off August 27, 2025, with a high-energy doubleheader at MTN Omondi Stadium, Lugogo. URA will lock horns with ambitious Kitara at 4:00 PM before a heavyweight clash between rivals KCCA and SC Villa under the floodlights at 7:00 PM.
The following day, August 28, Nakivubo Stadium will host NEC against Express at 4:00 PM, while BUL—last season’s champions—face Maroons at 7:00 PM. All ties will be played over two legs, ensuring fans get extended drama before the semifinals.

The competition, however, takes place without one of its biggest names. Vipers SC, winners of last season’s UPL crown, have opted out to concentrate on continental duty in the CAF Champions League, where they face Namibia’s African Stars in the preliminary round. Their absence hands Express FC a surprise ticket, stepping in despite finishing ninth last season.
The bracket promises blockbuster clashes: the BUL–Maroons winner will square off with either KCCA or SC Villa, while the URA–Kitara victor meets the NEC–Express winner.
With BUL defending their crown and Kitara continuing to build a reputation as one of the league’s rising forces, the 2025 Super 8 isn’t just preseason—it’s a battle of pride, ambition, and a chance to lay down early markers for the long campaign ahead.
