As drivers opted for a cautious drive through the hectic day two, Tanak just kept on pushing to extend the lead which eventually led to the car damage thus slowing the pace and giving Elfyn Evans and Kalle Rovanpera a chance to earn a 1-2 Toyota Gazoo finish on day two.

The Fin now lies third with a huge task to fight tomorrow if he’s to win the event. Hyundai has never won the Safari Rally and with Tanak’s day one lead, they thought they could capitalise on that to earn victory on the East African soil.
