Tanzanian rally ace Ahmed Huwel has arrived in Uganda, ready to make his mark at the Shell V-Power Pearl of Africa Rally in Mbarara on May 7-9.
Driving his Toyota Yaris Rally2, Huwel is eager to kickstart his 2026 Africa Rally Championship (ARC) title bid, having joined the continental series late last year.

“I hear a lot about Ugandan motor rallying. The fans are amazing, but we’re here to compete for our first ARC points,” Huwel said after testing his car in Mityana.
With experience dating back to the mid-2000s, Huwel faces stiff competition from defending champion Yasin Nasser (Uganda), kenyan Karan Patel, Chana Jasmeet, and Samman Vohra among others.

The event features five competitive stages in Mbarara and Ankole, with 65 drivers registered, including 23 vying for ARC and ARC2 points. Will Huwel make it a memorable debut?
