The roar of rally engines is set to return to the picturesque landscapes of Mbarara for the 2026 Shell V-Power Pearl of Africa Uganda Rally! This isn’t just any event; it’s a monumental fixture on the African motorsport calendar, serving as both Round 2 of the prestigious FIA African Rally Championship (ARC) and Round 2 of the fiercely contested Uganda National Rally Championship (NRC). Spanning three exhilarating days from May 7th to 9th, 2026, the rally will traverse the scenic districts of Mbarara and Kiruhura in Western Uganda.

Organizers made the strategic decision to bring the rally back to this region to truly embody Uganda’s identity as the “Pearl of Africa.” The rally aims to showcase not only the thrilling speed of motorsport but also the rich tapestry of Ankole culture and the breathtaking natural beauty, including its diverse wildlife. In a unique tribute to local heritage and heroes, the stages themselves bear names steeped in the community: Charles Muhangi, Kaguta, Ankole Cow, Moses Lumala, and Rukaari.

The action officially kicks off with scrutineering in Mbarara on May 7th, 2026, where machines will undergo rigorous checks before hitting the gravel.

Anticipation is already sky-high, with a staggering 51 crews from 23 different countries having confirmed their entry. This diverse international participation guarantees a thrilling showdown, as top drivers from across the African continent converge to battle for supremacy and continental honours.

This year’s edition is poised to be one of the most competitive in recent memory, featuring a compelling mix of seasoned champions, electrifying rising talents, and inspiring personal stories. However, competitors must brace themselves for the unpredictable Ugandan weather; the rally is renowned for its wet conditions, where the distinctive red-soil stages transform into notoriously slippery and challenging tracks if rain descends.

As the countdown to May 7th begins, rally enthusiasts countrywide are preparing for an unforgettable spectacle where speed, skill, culture, and nature converge in the heart of the Pearl of Africa.
