Express FC overcame off-field turmoil to grind out a hard-fought 1-0 victory over UPDF FC in a low-key Uganda Premier League encounter in Bombo.

Amid ongoing financial uncertainty and logistical setbacks, Express showed resilience on the pitch, despite a game largely short on clear-cut chances. UPDF nearly capitalised early on a goalkeeping error from Hafizi Khassim, but failed to take advantage, setting the tone for a cagey contest.

With both sides struggling to create, the match seemed destined for a stalemate until a late defensive lapse proved costly. Substitute Elvis Ssekajugo reacted quickest inside the box, firing home from close range after UPDF failed to clear their lines.

The goal sealed a season double for Express, who had also edged the reverse fixture by the same scoreline. Despite the win, their off-field issues remain a growing concern, contrasting sharply with their determination on matchday.

The result lifts Express to 10th place with 29 points, while UPDF remain dangerously close to the drop in 13th with 17 points.
