The Uganda Rally fraternity is mourning the tragic loss of rally driver Rajiv Ruparelia, who passed away in a fatal accident along the Express Highway in Munyonyo.
Rajiv, a respected figure in Ugandan motorsports, had taken a sabbatical from the sport since joining in 2019. As the patron of the Central Motor Club (CMC), he was known for his speed and driving skills, particularly for being the first to race a proto car.

Born in January 1990 to billionaire businessman Sudhir Ruparelia and his wife Jyotsna, Rajiv was a successful entrepreneur in his own right, serving as the Managing Director of the Ruparelia Group. He leaves behind his wife, Naiya Khagram Ruparelia, and their daughter.
According to police, Rajiv, 35, died at 1:54 am in a tragic accident involving his white Nissan GTR (UAT 638L), which crashed, overturned, and caught fire at the Busabala flyover. He died at the scene, and investigations are ongoing as noted by the deputy spokesperson, Luke Owoyesigyire.

The rally community remembers Rajiv for his passion for driving and his contributions to the sport. His legacy will live on through the memories of his racing career and his impact on Ugandan motorsports. Rest in Peace, Rajiv. May your memory inspire future generations of rally drivers.
Rest in peace. I used to see you at Kabora international school. You were kind towards us
