Tusker FC delivered a statement performance at a packed Nyayo National Stadium on Sunday afternoon, defeating reigning league champions Gor Mahia 3-1 to claim the 2026 Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Super Cup.

The victory marks the fourth time Tusker have lifted the curtain-raiser trophy, continuing their impressive trajectory under French manager Julien Mette. Despite the setback, Gor Mahia remain the most successful team in the competition’s history with 7 titles.

The opening phase was a tightly contested affair until Tusker broke the deadlock in the 34th minute, capitalizing on defensive space. Just two minutes later, winger Alvin Mang’eni sliced through the Gor Mahia defense to set up Eugene Ikutwa, who calmly converted to double the advantage.

Gor Mahia found a lifeline in the 39th minute when a long throw-in into the penalty area was accidentally turned into the net by Ikutwa for an own goal.

However, any hopes of a Gor Mahia comeback were extinguished early in the second half. In the 57th minute, Yakeen Muteheli picked out Ian Simiyu, who beat Katasi with a brilliant flicked header to restore Tusker’s two-goal cushion.

Gor Mahia threw men forward in the final stages, but Tusker’s defensive unit stood tall through six minutes of stoppage time to seal the victory.

The triumph hands Tusker their 4th Super Cup crown, adding to their Mozzart Bet Cup success. Gor Mahia will need to regroup quickly before their league title defense gets underway.

Both sides will now turn their attention to representing Kenya in the upcoming CAF Champions League and Confederation Cup campaigns.
