Wednesday at Abja Park, Naalya
UPDF Lady Tomahawks v KCCA Leopards – 7pm
Kampala Rockets v UCU Canons – 9pm

The UCU Canons are aiming to extend their winning streak to four games as they prepare to clash with the resurgent Kampala Rockets this evening in a highly anticipated National Basketball League encounter at Abja Park in Naalya.

UCU has found rhythm in recent weeks, notching impressive victories over the KIU Titans, JKL Dolphins, and delivering a shock blow to the previously unbeaten Namuwongo Blazers. That win over the Blazers was particularly significant, ending their perfect run and sending a strong message across the league.

However, the Kampala Rockets come into the matchup riding a wave of momentum themselves. Fresh off a commanding 75-66 triumph over the Blazers, the Rockets are high on confidence. That win marked their 10th of the season and reaffirmed their credentials as title contenders.

In that standout performance, Brian Opiyo starred with a 22-point haul, while mid-season addition Gideon Kasasa made an immediate impact with 14 points. The Rockets also dominated the rebounding battle thanks to their Congolese frontcourt trio — Mpiya Juf, Pauti Ozias Kikomba, and Christian Ndibu, whose physical presence helped the team out-rebound the Blazers 51-46.

The Canons, meanwhile, battled to a gritty 77-68 win over KIU in their last outing, showing depth and resilience even in the absence of key players Joel Kayiira and Jimmy Otim. That result further solidified their position as one of the league’s most dangerous teams when in full flow.

Beyond the quest for a fourth straight win, tonight’s clash holds added motivation for UCU revenge. In their first-round meeting in March, the Rockets edged out the Canons 67-61. That game saw solid performances from Roxine Ahumuza, Ndibu, and Kevin Kasobya, all scoring in double figures.

With both sides boasting form, talent, and motivation, this evening’s encounter promises fireworks, a test of UCU’s consistency against a Rockets side determined to cement their top-tier status.
