Uganda Aquatics Team flagged off for World Championships

The Uganda Aquatics National Team was flagged off for the 22nd World Aquatics Championships in Singapore by Chairman of the National Council of Sports, Ambrose Tashobya. The team, fresh from the Uganda Aquatics National Swimming Championships, is determined to make the country proud.

The team will compete in both open water and pool events. Swagiah Mubiru and debutant Benjamin Lutaaya will participate in the 5km open water race from July 15th to 20th.

Meanwhile, Kirabo Namutebi, Tendo Mukalazi, Jesse Ssengonzi, and Gloria Muzito will compete in pool events from July 27th to August 3rd.

The Uganda Aquatics team consists of: Swagiah Mubiru (5km Open Water), Benjamin Noel Lutaaya (5km Open Water), Gloria Anna Muzito (50m & 100m Freestyle), Kirabo Namutebi (50m Butterfly & Freestyle), Jesse Ssuubi Ssengonzi (50m & 100m Butterfly) and Tendo Mukalazi (50m & 100m Freestyle).

    The team is led by Head Coach Abel Ddamulira, who is confident in the team’s abilities to shine on the world stage. “With a strong team spirit and determination, Team Uganda is ready to put up a good fight in Singapore.”

    The team’s participation in the World Aquatics Championships is a significant milestone for Ugandan aquatics. The team is eager to showcase their skills and make the country proud. With their talent and dedication, they are poised to deliver impressive performances.
