The Uganda Cricket Association (UCA) has announced Juma Miyaji as the new captain of the Cricket Cranes ahead of the Pearl of Africa T20 Series in Entebbe. Miyaji, a right-arm pace bowler, has been a member of the national team for three years and made his international debut in 2022.
Miyaji’s appointment as captain comes as no surprise, given his experience and skills on the field. He will lead the team in the upcoming Pearl of Africa T20 Series, which features top cricketing nations including Uganda, Kenya, Namibia (A), United Arab Emirates (UAE), and Kuwait.

The tournament will take place at the Entebbe Cricket Oval from July 15th to 27th, 2025, and will feature a single round-robin followed by eliminators and a grand finale. The Cricket Cranes, who are the defending champions, will start their title defense against Kenya on July 18th.
The team is led by Head Coach Abhay Sharma, who will work closely with Miyaji to ensure the team’s success in the tournament. With Miyaji’s leadership and the team’s talent, the Cricket Cranes are poised to defend their title and make a strong impression in the tournament.

The squad for the Pearl of Africa T20 Series includes: Robinson Obuyax, Raghav Dhawan,Frank Nsubuga, Matthew Musingunzi, Dinesh Nakraniv, Juma Miyaji (c), Shrideep Mandela, Cyrus Kakuru, Ronald Lutaaya, Innocent Mwebaza, Joseph Baguma and Calvin Watuwa.
