Benin v Morocco
Final, 3:15pm
Uganda v Senegal
Uganda will lock horns with Senegal in the final of the 2026 CAF African Schools Football Championship this Friday at Ngoni Stadium in Norton, just outside Harare.
The East Africans, represented by St Mary’s Kitende, booked their place in the title decider after edging Benin 4-3 in a tense penalty shootout following a goalless draw in the semi-finals. It was a moment of redemption for the Ugandan side, who had suffered heartbreak at the same stage last year.
Head coach Hassan Zzungu expressed his delight after the hard-fought victory, noting the team’s progress from last year’s disappointment. He also acknowledged the magnitude of the challenge ahead against a seasoned Senegal side.
Senegal stormed into the final in emphatic fashion, dismantling Morocco 4-0 in a dominant semi-final display that underlined their pedigree in the competition.
Uganda’s journey to the final has been impressive despite the semi-final scare. They opened with a 1-1 draw against hosts Zimbabwe before hitting top gear, thrashing DR Congo 6-0 and brushing aside Morocco 3-0 in the group stages.
With confidence high and momentum on their side, Uganda will now aim to go one step further and clinch the continental crown, though they face a physically strong and experienced Senegal team.
Meanwhile, Benin and Morocco will battle it out for the bronze medal.Champions in both the boys’ and girls’ divisions will walk away with a top prize of $300,000 (sh1.1b), while the second-placed teams will earn $200,000(sh738m) and the third-place finishers will receive $150,000(sh554m)
