The Uganda Women’s kabaddi national team rode on an all-round performance to thrash Kenya in the Africa Kabaddi 2025 Championship final to clinch the second consecutive title in Kasarani.
She Graduators Ojil Grace and Erinah Nattabi produced a sensational display to help Uganda defeat Kenya 22-13 in the summit clash.
With the dominant win, Uganda qualified for the upcoming Kabaddi World Cup slated for June in Bihar, India.
Nine Countries including the hosts Kenya, South Africa, Rwanda, Zambia, Ghana and Tanzania among others participated in the two days championship that took place at Kasarani stadium in Kenya
After his match winning display, accomplished coach Efrain Desire Makubuya claimed that Uganda are now the African giants in the sport.
“Winning this championship proves that we are the giants in Africa when it comes to Kabaddi. We are excited to take on top teams like India and Iran at the World Cup,” Makubuya told Rora Media.

Meanwhile, Uganda’s defender, Eaunice Awori was voted the championship best defender. She noted that, “Our defense strategy was key to keeping the Kenyan’s at bay. Every player executed their role with precision, and it paid off.”
Having clinched the Africa Kabaddi 2025 Championship, Uganda have showcased their growing stature in the sport. In 2023, Uganda won the trophy, beating Zanzibar by 34-18 points in the final after overcoming South Sudan, Tanzania, Burundi, and Kenya.
