Uganda’s Rally Fraternity to celebrate legendary driver

The rally fraternity will be heading to Mbarara for the calendar event opener. According to the draft calendar released early last week, the first National Rally Championship (NRC) will be run on the weekend of 24-26 January, 2025.

The MPU Mbarara Rally will be opening the 2025 season and, in this event, veteran rally driver Moses Lumala will be honoured as he celebrates his 60th birthday.

Lumala in the Evo 10 he later sold to Arthur Blick Junior. Its now owned by Abdul Kateete.

The event which will also celebrate Lumala’s mother’s 90th birthday is dubbed as “Lumala@60, Mama@90”. Lumala was a house hold name in Ugandan Rally during the 90’s and early 2000. He has shipped in a new Ford Proto that he’s expected to be driving ‘occasionally’ next year.

Last year, it was Motorsport Promo Uganda (MPU) club which organised the Mbarara Rally and for the second year running.
