Gor Mahia captain Mike Evans Kibwage and coach Charles Akonnor expressed their feelings following the team’s defeat by Rayon Sports in the final match. Both were full of praises for the performance of their team, with Akonnor highlighting the moment where they lost due to individual errors, while Kibwage mentioned the poor use of opportunities as the reason for losing.
“We had a good game, the opponents were disciplined and were highly motivated by the crowd, but we also showed a good game, specially in the second half after conceding the goal.”
Skipper Mike Evans Kibwage praised the well-disciplined play of Rwandan team and their huge support from the local fans. However, he added that K’Ogalo did not leave the game without a fight, which was demonstrated by the positive second half. “It was a good game,” Kibwage said.
“The opponents were disciplined and heavily motivated by the crowd. We did not play badly, we all made a great effort and showed amazing game, especially in the second half, when we conceded the goal. We were lacking a little something to finish the game, but this will change next time.”

Head coach Charles Akonnor shared similar views concerning the team’s performance, which was generally good but had some major individual errors. He added that Gor Mahia will use this experience for the upcoming season. “We dominated the game, but we messed up in key moments,” Akonnor said.
“We lacked concentration at key moments. The boys played a good game, specially during the whole tournament, but we are still disappointed that it ended this way. They showed amazing spirit and desire to win the tournament, but unfortunately, it did not happen. This championship was a great experience for us, and all the positive aspects of it will be used in the coming season.”
