Uganda female rally drivers, navigators, marshals, administrators and fans under their umbrella association, the Women in Motorsport Uganda (WIMU) has today given back to the society.

The WIMU family led by their President, Evelyn Kobusingye, demonstrated their commitment to giving back to the community. Through their community-focused initiatives, they have visited Mulago National Referral Hospital’s cancer institute to donate to patients with the disease.

The donation passed through Catherine Sawe of Mulago Hill Health Foundation who Catherine Sawe of Mulago Hill Health Foundation, which caters to outpatients who can’t travel to and from their distant homes.

Kobusingye expressed WIMU’s promise to continue supporting those in need as well as promoting motorsport awareness.
“It’s not really easy when it comes to cancer in Uganda. Cancer doesn’t only affect the patients; it also goes down to attendants. As WIMU we have come out to help the shelter that helps the victims who can’t go back to their homes as they wait for appointment,” Kobusingye noted.

Sawe who runs the shelter alongside her husband Luis Lechiguero, expressed gratitude for WIMU’s kindness and generosity. Items donated including; food, shoes, clothes, blankets among others were donated.

At the venue, WIMU members participated in the tree planting exercise with the aim of increasing on the number of shaded for both patients and attendants. They also joined hands and served the day’s lunch to the community.
Recently in a similar effort, WIMU have organized a blood donation campaign during the National Rally Championship events in Mbarara and Masaka where they collected litres of blood and showcasing the motorsport community’s compassion and unity.

WIMU’s community-focused efforts demonstrate their dedication to making a positive impact beyond motorsport. Their initiatives inspire others to contribute to meaningful causes.
