2025 Uganda Para Badminton International Tournament kicks Off

The 8th edition of the Uganda Para Badminton International Tournament has officially begun at the MTN Arena in Lugogo, marking the start of six days of intense competition. The tournament has attracted participants from 15 countries worldwide, including Sweden, Peru, Nigeria, Ivory Coast, India, Estonia, Egypt, DR Congo, Cameroon, Brazil, UAE, and Venezuela.

Competition Categories

The tournament features six categories, divided into Wheelchair and Standing Classes based on the type and severity of physical impairment:

  • Wheelchair Classes: WH1, WH2
  • Standing Classes: SL3, SL4, SU5, SH6

Participants and Representation

Over 143 para-badminton players from around the world will participate in the tournament, with Uganda represented by 24 players. Last year’s silver medalist, Nazziwa Sarah, is competing again, confident of winning a gold medal this time and this the 8th edition having played in 2017, 2018, 2019, 2021, 2022, 2023, 2024 and 2025 .

The Uganda Para Badminton International Tournament is a vital ranking event where players can earn points to improve their global standings and qualify for major competitions, including the Global Tour and the Paralympics. The tournament promises to be a thrilling celebration of badminton and camaraderie, showcasing the skills and determination of para-badminton players from around the world.

Tournament Schedule

The tournament will run until Sunday, July 6th, 2025, with athletes from across the world ready to showcase their skills and represent their countries.
