Mansoor Lubega, a determined 2WD driver, has pledged to fight for the championship title this year. He made this promise during a trophy presentation ceremony at Caltex, his sponsor.
Lubega finished 10th overall and 1st in his category at the Pearl Rally which took place last weekend in Mbarara.
“I am here to assure you that the next time I come back with trophies, they will be championship trophies. Previously they have been winning me because I didn’t have sponsors but with you, Caltex am ready to push and I will bring it home,” Lubega stated.
Caltex’s marketing manager, Joy Lyavaala, commended Lubega for his impressive performance and reaffirmed the company’s commitment to supporting him throughout the championship.
Caltex also sponsors Ponsiano Lwakataka, a two-time NRC champion (2005 and 2007), who faced engine and turbo issues during the Pearl Rally, forcing him to retire. Despite this setback, Caltex’s support for Lwakataka remains unwavering as they promised to even help him get a new engine.
