Mbarara City v UPPC

Mbarara City return to Rwamanja Stadium on Wednesday knowing that every home fixture is beginning to feel like a must-win as their Premier League season continues to unravel. Rooted in the relegation zone with just five points, the Ankole Lions have taken only a single point at home a worrying statistic that underscores their early-season fragility.

Their challenge does not get any easier. Entebbe UPPC, revitalised under Abdallah Mubiru after rebranding from Gaddafi, have developed a tough reputation on their travels. The Printers are unbeaten away from home and boast seven road points highlighted by victories over Calvary and BUL, plus a gritty draw against in-form SC Villa at Kadiba.

Although their previous trip to Mbarara ended in a disastrous 5–0 defeat during their relegation season, Entebbe UPPC had won three straight meetings before that, meaning the fixture remains anything but predictable.

Forward Ambrose Kigozi, fresh from his brace against BUL, is expected to spearhead the visitors’ attack once again, with Julius Poloto, Hassan Ssenyonjo, Steven Munguchi and Isa Bugembe providing the creative thrust behind him.

For Mbarara City, the mandate is simple: stop the slump, restore confidence, and turn home turf into an advantage again. But against one of the league’s most efficient away performers, the uphill climb only grows steeper.
