Vipers SC kept the Uganda Premier League title race alive with a hard-fought 2–1 away victory over Lugazi FC, cutting the gap on leaders KCCA FC to just two points. They are second with 24 points, a game less and below leaders KCCA FC with 26 points.
The visitors struck early through Arafat Usama, who headed home in the ninth minute after Lugazi goalkeeper failed to hold Milton Karisa’s initial effort from Enock Luyima’s cross. Vipers protected the slim advantage into the break despite spells of pressure from the hosts.

Substitute Yunus Ssentamu doubled Vipers’ lead in the 74th minute, calmly finishing after being set up by Robin Kane, seemingly putting the game beyond Lugazi’s reach. The home side, however, mounted a late push and pulled one back in the 89th minute through Ashiraf Mulindi, assisted by David Bagoole, but it proved too little, too late.
Elsewhere, Maroons FC were ruthless at Luzira, hammering Express FC 4–0. Goals from Raymond Walugembe, a brace by Emmanuel Obua and a late thunderbolt from Brian Nkumbi sealed a comprehensive win for the prison warders.
At Rwamwanja stadium in Kamwenge,
Mbarara City FC edged URA FC 1–0, with Henry Kitegenyi converting a 61st-minute penalty to hand the Ankole Lions maximum points.
