Kitara FC continued their impressive Uganda Premier League campaign with a hard-fought 2–1 victory over UPDF FC, a result that lifted the Hoima-based side to fifth place on the table with 22 points.
The match began on a worrying note when play was briefly halted after a heavy collision involving Nyakojo Benjamin and Kitara Daniel, but once action resumed, Kitara gradually asserted control. After several half-chances, the breakthrough arrived in the 34th minute when Jimmy Kalema finished calmly to give the hosts the lead.
Momentum stayed with Kitara and just five minutes later, substitute Crispas Asiki, who had replaced the injured Patrick Kaddu, doubled the advantage with a well-taken strike to make it 2–0 heading into halftime.

UPDF attempted to respond after the break with a series of substitutions and spells of pressure, but Kitara remained organised at the back. Kalema and Asiki both came close to extending the lead, while UPDF also had a goal ruled out for offside as frustration grew.
The army side finally found a lifeline late in the game when Sekamate Samuel Kayongo curled in a fine free kick in the 86th minute to reduce the deficit. However, Kitara held firm in the closing stages to secure all three points.
Nyakojo Benjamin capped off a commanding display by being named Man of the Match, underlining his influence throughout the contest.
The win pushes Kitara to 22 points, opening an 11-point gap over 13th-placed UPDF. At the top, Vipers SC remain leaders with 27 points and still have a game in hand as the Uganda Premier League race continues to take shape.
