With the countdown to the 2026 Federation of East Africa Secondary Schools Sports Association (FEASSA) Games underway, the Uganda Secondary Schools Sports Association (USSSA) has unveiled its final roadmap for Team Uganda’s campaign, calling for unity, discipline and full compliance with preparations ahead of the regional championship in Morogoro, Tanzania.
During the final preparatory meeting, USSSA officials outlined key milestones, including team confirmations, accreditation, travel arrangements, payment requirements and other logistical plans aimed at ensuring a smooth participation in the regional tournament.
Speaking on behalf of USSSA President Mr. Justus Mugisha, First Vice President Ms.
Harriet Apolot thanked member schools and stakeholders for their continued support following the association’s re-election.
Apolot urged officials and team members to seek assistance whenever they face challenges, stressing that teamwork and unity will be crucial to Uganda’s success.
“Do not wait until it is too late to seek help if you are facing any challenges. Reach out to those who can support you so that we leave here united as one team,” Apolot said.
She also wished the delegation success, adding:”For God and My Country; for school sports, for better.”
USSSA Chief Executive Officer Christopher Banage emphasized the need for strict adherence to timelines and procedures throughout the preparations.
“Our priority is to ensure a safe, organized, and successful journey to the FEASSA Games. Every team must comply with the travel guidelines and complete all registration and accreditation requirements,” also confirmed that the official FEASSA draws involving all participating countries will take place on 6 August at the USSSA National Offices.
According to the roadmap, teams were required to submit team lists, vehicle details and officials’ information by 4 August, collect official kits and apparel between 6–7 August, before the national flag-off scheduled for 8 August.
Team Uganda will depart Kampala on 9 August, travel through the Busia border, spend a stopover in Arusha on 10 August, and arrive in Morogoro on 11 August ahead of the official opening ceremony on 13 August.
The championship will run until 22 August, when the Ugandan delegation is expected to begin its return journey.
Meanwhile, Commissioner for Physical Education and Sports Ms. Grace Abalo called on participants to uphold discipline, professionalism and patriotism throughout the competition.
“As we prepare for the FEASSA Games, I urge all participants to remain disciplined, uphold professionalism, and represent Uganda with pride,” Abalo said.
She also directed team leaders to ensure all travel and health requirements are fulfilled, enforce the prescribed dress code and keep student-athletes away from drugs.
“Let us work together to uphold the values of Team Uganda and strive for excellence both on and off the field. When we succeed, we uplift our country,” she added.
The 2026 FEASSA Games will bring together secondary school teams from across East Africa, with Uganda aiming to extend its proud tradition of strong performances at the regional schools championship.
