Police FC have thrown the Uganda Premier League title race wide open, capitalising on slip-ups elsewhere to seize control at the top of the standings. A professional second-half display at the Kira Road Arena saw the law enforcers brush aside struggling Calvary 2-0 and move level on 27 points with champions Vipers SC, edging ahead on goal difference.
After a cagey opening period, Police found their cutting edge after the break. Brian Obedi broke the deadlock before Umaru Kasumba put the result beyond doubt, underlining the growing confidence within Matia Lule’s side as the season gathers momentum.
While Police surged, rivals stumbled. KCCA FC’s title charge lost further steam in Luzira, where they were held to a barren draw by Maroons. The result extended the Kasasiro Boys’ winless run to two matches and saw them slip to third place, days after suffering defeat to the new league leaders.

Despite late pressure, KCCA lacked the ruthlessness needed to force a breakthrough, with defender Herbert Achayi guilty of missed chances deep into stoppage time. Once again, Brian Ssenyondo’s men struggled to unlock a well-organised backline, reigniting questions about their attacking efficiency.
Ssenyondo admitted frustration at the dropped points but pointed to improved spirit late on, insisting sharper finishing must now become a priority as the title race tightens.
Elsewhere, Entebbe UPPC quietly kept pace with the frontrunners. Ambrose Kigozi’s solitary strike earned the Printers a valuable 1-0 victory away to UPDF in Bombo, lifting them to fourth on 26 points, level with record champions SC Villa. With several contenders separated by the slimmest of margins, the battle for UPL supremacy is rapidly turning into a season-long sprint.

Wow, this is a really exciting turn of events! It seems like Police are really stepping up their game.
