Kampala Capital City Authority FC have strengthened their creative department with the acquisition of Gabonese attacking midfielder Axel Mezui, as the club continues to reshape its squad for sustained domestic and continental ambitions.
The 6ft 2in playmaker arrives from Canon 105 Libreville, penning a two-year and four-month contract that will keep him at Lugogo until the close of the 2027/28 season. Mezui has been a key figure at the Gabonese outfit since 2024, earning recognition for his commanding presence in midfield and ability to influence games in the final third.

Club insiders reveal that Mezui had been closely monitored by the technical bench, with his vision, range of passing and physical advantage standing out. His combination of height and technical ability is expected to add a new dimension to KCCA’s attacking transitions and set-piece threat.
Speaking after completing the move, Mezui expressed enthusiasm about the next chapter of his career.
“I am proud to join a club with such strong tradition and ambition. I am ready to work hard, connect with my teammates and give everything to help the team succeed,” he said.
The Kasasiro Boys view the signing as part of a broader long-term project aimed at blending youthful energy with international experience. Mezui’s exposure in Gabon’s top flight is seen as valuable as KCCA push to reclaim dominance on the local scene and remain competitive in continental competitions.
His arrival underlines the club’s intent to build a balanced, competitive squad capable of challenging for major honours in the coming seasons.
