Entebbe UPPC finally ended their winless run in the Uganda Premier League with a hard-fought 2-1 victory over relegation-threatened Buhimba United Saints on Thursday at Royals Park, Butema.

Coming into the fixture under pressure after five matches without a win, the Printers showed resilience to turn the game around, sealing victory deep into stoppage time in a tense encounter.

Their recent run had been frustrating, featuring defeats to SC Villa and Kitara, and draws against Lugazi, NEC and URA, but Abdallah Mubiru’s side found a way to respond when it mattered most.

Buhimba started brighter and took the lead in the 36th minute through Anwar Ntege, momentarily unsettling the visitors and energising their survival hopes.

However, Entebbe reacted before the break, with Ambrose Kigozi restoring parity just four minutes before halftime to keep the contest finely balanced.

The decisive moment arrived in stoppage time when Issa Mubiru delivered a deflected cross in the second minute of added time, which found its way into the net to complete a dramatic comeback for the visitors.

Buhimba’s frustrations were compounded late on when David Kasaija was shown a red card, reducing the hosts to ten men as the game slipped away from them.

The result lifts Entebbe UPPC to 40 points and fifth place on the table, offering a timely boost to their campaign after a difficult spell.

For Buhimba United Saints, however, the defeat leaves them stuck second from bottom with 15 points, further deepening their relegation worries as the season edges toward its final stretch.
