While the dust is still settling on the recently concluded 2025/26 Uganda Premier League season, attention has already turned to what lies ahead.
FUFA has officially kick-started preparations for the 2026/27 campaign by releasing a comprehensive schedule that will guide clubs through the licensing, registration and competition processes leading up to the new season.
The roadmap, published on Monday, outlines critical dates and requirements that clubs must meet before the league returns in late August.
A key early milestone will come on June 10 when Uganda Premier League club chief executives gather for a pre-season licensing workshop. The same day will also mark the opening of the Club Licensing Online Platform (CLOP), a CAF-developed digital system used to manage club licensing procedures and stadium inspection processes for both domestic and continental competitions.
Five days later, on June 15, clubs will begin the Club Licensing Point Score System assessment. Under this framework, clubs must first satisfy mandatory licensing criteria before earning points in areas such as sporting performance, infrastructure, administration, legal compliance and financial management.
July promises to be one of the busiest months on the football calendar. The primary transfer window will officially open on July 1, coinciding with the start of physical inspection visits that will run until July 15. These inspections will assess whether clubs meet the required standards for participation in the upcoming season.
Supporters will discover their teams’ paths to glory on July 28 when the fixtures for the 2026/27 Uganda Premier League season are unveiled.
Before the league kicks off, attention will shift to the FUFA Super 8 tournament scheduled between August 1 and 16. The traditional season opener, the Super Cup, will follow on August 23, pitting league champions Vipers SC against Uganda Cup holders Kitara FC.
The wait for competitive league action will end on August 28 when the 2026/27 Uganda Premier League season officially gets underway. Clubs will, however, continue reshaping their squads until September 19, the deadline for the primary transfer window.
With licensing requirements, stadium inspections, transfers and fixture planning all lined up over the next three months, clubs now face a demanding period as they prepare for another campaign in Uganda’s top-flight football.
