BUL FC have confirmed that midfield general George Kasonko has signed a one-year contract extension, committing his future to the Eastern Giants for a sixth consecutive season.

Kasonko, who joined BUL FC from Busoga United ahead of the 2020/21 campaign, has been a central figure in the club’s rise and remains a pivotal part of head coach Abbey Kikomeko’s plans. Upon arrival, he was immediately entrusted with the captain’s armband a role he has proudly held ever since.

Under his leadership, BUL FC has enjoyed a golden spell of success. Kasonko led the team to its first-ever Stanbic Uganda Cup title in 2022 and followed it up by lifting back-to-back FUFA Super Eight trophies in 2023 and 2024. His impact was particularly felt last season, where his dominant midfield performances helped BUL secure a historic second-place finish in the Uganda Premier League.

Speaking after finalising the new deal, Kasonko shared his excitement about continuing with the club he now considers home.

“Renewing my contract with BUL FC was an easy decision. This club means a lot to me. I’ve grown here, achieved success here, and I still have the hunger to win more,” he said.

“I’m grateful to the management, the coaching team, and my fellow players for believing in me. We’ve built something special, and I’m proud to be part of it.”

Head Coach Abbey Kikomeko welcomed the news, praising Kasonko’s character and importance to the team.

“George is not just our captain; he’s the heartbeat of this squad. His leadership on and off the pitch is unmatched, and his quality in midfield continues to be a major asset. Having him with us gives everyone confidence heading into the new season.”

Over the years, Kasonko has etched his name into BUL FC’s history books becoming the club’s most decorated skipper and a symbol of consistency and resilience.

As preparations begin for the new season, BUL FC fans can look forward to seeing their trusted captain marshal the midfield once again, with more silverware firmly in sight.
