Momentum is building for the 2025 Uganda Open Table Tennis Championship following a timely sponsorship injection from Lakhani Motors, which has contributed UGX 10 million toward the organization of the event set for December 6–7 at Kabojja International School.
The partnership signals a growing wave of corporate interest in Uganda’s less-publicized sports and highlights how private-sector backing is beginning to shape the future of table tennis in the country.
During the sponsorship handover, Uganda Table Tennis Association (UTTA) President Cyrus Mark Muwanga hailed Lakhani Motors for investing in the sport’s development, describing the partnership as a step toward building a stronger, more professional structure for players and fans alike.
“Our goal has always been to attract meaningful partnerships that push the sport forward,” Muwanga said. “Lakhani Motors’ support is not just about money — it’s about faith in what Ugandan table tennis can become.”

The funds will cover essential areas such as branding, logistics, and event organization, ensuring that this year’s edition of the Uganda Open maintains high competitive and operational standards.
Representatives from Lakhani Motors emphasized that the company’s involvement in table tennis reflects its wider philosophy of community engagement and youth empowerment. Over its 20 years of operation in Uganda, the company has supported several initiatives in sports and healthcare, building a reputation grounded in reliability and social responsibility.
The collaboration is part of UTTA’s long-term effort to attract more corporate partners to sustain the sport’s growth and provide young Ugandan players with platforms to showcase their talent both locally and internationally.
