UPDF 1-1 Mbale Heroes
UPDF and Mbale Heroes have shared spoils in a one-all draw in the Uganda Premier League encounter at Bombo Military Barracks Stadium today Wednesday evening.
The late second half strike by Mbale Hereos forward Hilary Adima in the 85th minute of the game cancelled out Samuel Ssekamatte half time goal to share spoil at Uganda Premier League matchday 12.
In the 17th minute, a beautiful build up from Samuel Ssekamatte to Rashid Faridi fouled in the forbidden area and center Refree awarded penalty which was converted by Ssekamatte to give the hosts lead in the 19 minutes of the game.
Right from the first whistle, the situation was tense as was expected, with both sides searching for an early opener, amidst too much physicality with hard tackles flying allover.
The Surgeons got so close to scoring in the 24th minute, but Solomon Okello denied jeremy Matata who had headed in from close range.
Both sides had some chances to score, mostly in the first half, but couldn’t utilise any. In the second half, the visitors, like the hosts were all playing rather cautiously.
Later in 10 minutes Wasswa Yusuf came up big, denying Etoju Amos’ powerful header from a corner kick. The UPDF FC goalkeeper keeps the lead intact.
Asaph Mwebaze’s side so far has played seven games away and they managed to collect only two point against UPDF FC today and Lugazi FC. They lost to Express, Wakiso Giants, Police FC, Mbarara City FC and previously Kitara.
The point keeps Mbale Heroes in the 15th position with nine points while UPDF moved up to fifth place on 17 points .
The two teams will return to action next week with Mbale Heroes FC hosting Vipers SC on 20th December as UPDF visits Soltilo Bright Stars FC.
