Asubo Ladies FC have been denied a license to compete in the upcoming 2025/26 FTB FUFA Women Super League after failing to submit the required documentation within the set timelines.

According to FUFA, the club did not meet the mandatory licensing requirements by the extended deadline of August 21, 2025, despite being given additional time to complete the process. Club licensing is a critical exercise carried out before every season to ensure that all participating teams comply with standards relating to administration, finance, facilities, and legal structures, in line with both FUFA and CAF regulations.

The failure to comply means that Asubo Ladies FC will not be cleared to take part in the 2025/26 campaign unless they take further action. However, FUFA confirmed that the club retains the right to appeal the decision. Any appeal must be formally lodged by August 27, 2025, after which the FUFA Licensing Appeals body will review the case and make a final determination.

The development comes at a time when women’s football in Uganda is enjoying significant growth, with the FUFA Women Super League attracting increased attention, investment, and competitiveness. Missing out on the new season would be a major setback for Asubo Ladies, a club that has previously shown potential to challenge established sides in the top tier.

FUFA reiterated that the licensing process is designed not only to regulate participation but also to encourage clubs to professionalize their structures for long-term sustainability. The decision on Asubo Ladies serves as a reminder that compliance with administrative and infrastructural standards is as important as performance on the pitch.

As things stand, Asubo Ladies will have to wait on the outcome of any potential appeal to know whether they will feature in Uganda’s premier women’s football competition this season.
