The battle for promotion in the FUFA Big League took a dramatic twist as the second round burst into life with surprises and statement victories across Matchday 16.

Pacesetters Blacks Power FC stumbled at the first hurdle of the return leg, suffering a narrow 1–0 defeat to Young Elephant FC in Nwoya. The loss immediately trims their cushion at the summit and hands renewed belief to chasing sides eyeing top-flight promotion.

While the leaders faltered, Ntugasaze FC roared the loudest. Their emphatic 4–1 dismantling of Nebbi Central FC at Mityana Saza Ground served notice that they are ready to mount a serious second-round charge.

Western Uganda rivals Kigezi Homeboyz FC and Kaaro Karungi FC cancelled each other out in a 1–1 stalemate, a result that may prove costly in a tightly contested table.

In Mbale, Kataka FC tightened their grip on the promotion conversation with a composed 2–0 triumph over Bunyaruguru United FC, keeping pressure firmly on the leaders.

Elsewhere, margins were fine but significant. Soltilo Bright Stars FC edged CATDA FC 1–0 at Bugolobi, while Paidha Black Angels SC mirrored that scoreline against Mbale Heroes FC.

There was also joy for Iganga United FC, who battled to a 2–1 win over Onduparaka FC, and for Wakiso Giants FC, whose 1–0 success against Kiyinda Boys FC at Wakisha Recreation Ground keeps their ambitions alive.

With the second round only just underway, the message is clear: the promotion race is far from settled, and every point will now carry even greater weight.
