Ugandan teenage talents James Bogere and Hamza Sengooba have become the latest success story of the El Cambio Academy–AGF partnership, sealing professional deals with Danish giants Aarhus Gymnastikforening and strengthening the growing pipeline between East Africa and Europe.

Bogere, currently in Morocco with the Uganda Cranes’ AFCON 2025 training squad, described the milestone as transformative—but insisted the achievement represents something bigger than his own journey.

“This contract means a lot, but it’s also a reminder that opportunities can come when you least expect them,” Bogere said. “El Cambio shaped me from a young boy into a stronger, more confident player. I hope other young players keep pushing. Stay committed and believe—your moment can arrive anytime.”

Both Bogere and Sengooba will officially join AGF’s U19 setup in February 2026 after standout performances at the 2023 U17 World Cup, where Bogere shone in front of goal and Sengooba captained Uganda to a historic Round of 16 finish.

The duo’s move further cements the partnership between El Cambio Academy and AGF, with the Danish Superliga leaders preparing to integrate the teenagers into their talent system.

AGF talent manager Marc Søballe credited the smooth transition to years of collaborative development.

“El Cambio provides a strong technical foundation, and our ongoing support ensures players understand the AGF playing style early,” Søballe said. He hailed Bogere as “a lethal finisher with pace” and described Sengooba as “a resilient defensive leader.”

AGF Football Director Carsten V. Jensen called the signings a strategic milestone in the club’s vision of building a robust talent conveyor belt linking their academy with El Cambio.

El Cambio founder Thomas Thor emphasised the regional significance of the breakthrough, noting that East Africa has long struggled to export young talent.

“James and Hamza are more than players—they are symbols of what is possible,” Thor said. “Their commitment sets an example. This is just the beginning for Uganda and East Africa.”

The historic move signals a promising new chapter for the country’s rising stars—and for the academy that continues to shape them.
