The Council for East and Central Africa Football Associations (CECAFA) has officially announced the dates for the 2025 CECAFA Women’s Senior Championship. The tournament will run from June 12 to 22 in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.

CECAFA Competitions Director Yusuf Mosi stated that the timing is intentional, designed to give teams an opportunity to fine-tune their squads ahead of major competitions.

“This tournament will serve as crucial preparation for our teams heading to the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON), and it will also help others gear up for the WAFCON 2026 qualifiers starting in October,” Mosi said.

Tanzania, the host nation, has confirmed its participation along with Uganda, Burundi, and South Sudan. More teams are expected to confirm in the coming days.

Uganda will enter the tournament as the defending champions, having defeated Burundi (3-1) in the 2022 final.

With the Uganda Women’s Super League wrapping up on Tuesday, June 3, Crested Cranes head coach Sheryl Botes is expected to name her squad later this week as preparations for the championship begin.
