Kampala Queens (KQ), the 2024/25 Finance Trust Bank FUFA Women Super League champions, will be crowned today, Tuesday afternoon at the MTN-Omondi Stadium in Lugogo as they host She Maroons in their final match of the season.

KQ aim to end their campaign with winning touch among their fans. They currently lead the table with 48 points from 21 matches, boasting an impressive record of 14 wins, 6 draws, and only one defeat, which came in their most recent home fixture against Kawempe Muslim Ladies FC. The team is now eager to return to winning ways after a brief dip in form.

Their opponents, She Maroons, sit 9th with 23 points. A win could lift them to 8th place, overtaking Rines SS WFC, who have 25 points.

Ahead of the match, KQ’s assistant coach Sharon Aceng emphasized the importance of finishing strong. “We’ve prepared the players to go for a win. Yes, we’ve already secured the title, but we want to close the season in style for our loyal fans,” she said.

Team captain Shamirah Nalugya echoed the excitement ahead of the crowning ceremony. “We’re thrilled about lifting the trophy. We’ll give our all to win the match and celebrate the title with a victory. Everyone’s happy we’re about to raise a new trophy,” she shared.

Kampala Queens have dominated past encounters with She Maroons, winning four and drawing one of their last five meetings. They’ve scored 10 goals and conceded just once in that stretch. Their previous clash at Lugogo saw Kampala Queens triumph 5-1.

Both squads have reported full player availability ahead of the fixture. This league title marks a major milestone for Kampala Queens and head coach Asefa Haile Gabreal, who will celebrate his first championship at the helm as the team lifts the newly unveiled Finance Trust Bank FUFA Women Super League trophy.
