The curtain rises on the 2025 National Basketball League (NBL) Finals this Friday at Lugogo Indoor Arena, promising a spectacular conclusion to a fiercely contested season. Fans are set for high-octane action as Uganda’s top teams battle for supremacy in both the men’s and women’s leagues.

In the men’s category, the stage is set for a clash of experience and ambition as reigning champions City Oilers take on the resurgent Namuwongo Blazers, fresh from their historic qualification to the BAL Elite 16. The Blazers dominated the regular season, finishing atop the table with a 19-3 record, and carried their momentum through the playoffs, overcoming Rezlife in the quarterfinals before sweeping UCU Canons in the semifinals. The Oilers, by contrast, had a more challenging campaign, scraping into the playoffs but now relying on their veteran know-how as they chase an 11th NBL crown.

On the women’s side, excitement is equally high as JT Lady Jaguars face off against the formidable JKL Lady Dolphins. The Lady Jaguars stormed past Magic Stormers with relative ease, while the Lady Dolphins endured a tougher route, edging UCU Lady Canons in a hard-fought semifinal to book their spot in the final.

The series is expected to stretch over seven games, beginning on Friday, October 24, with subsequent matches scheduled across the week, culminating on Friday, November 7. With both seasoned champions and rising contenders in the mix, this year’s NBL Finals promise thrilling encounters, fierce rivalries, and unforgettable basketball drama that will keep fans on the edge of their seats from tip-off to the final buzzer.
