Kitara FC Coach Wasswa Bbosa commended the resilience and determination of his players following their emphatic 7-0 victory over Express FC in a Uganda Premier League match held on Saturday at Royal Parks in Butema, Hoima.

Speaking after the match, Bbosa highlighted the team’s disciplined approach and ability to exploit the opponent’s weaknesses.

“We handled the game well, although we missed several chances,” Bbosa stated. “We are working on improving our finishing and will continue to refine this aspect of our play. However, I am proud of the team’s performance and how we capitalized on Express’ mistakes to secure this result,” noted Bbosa.

The victory marks a significant achievement for Kitara and reinforces their position as a competitive force in the league.

George Ssenkaba’s hat-trick, Jude Ssemugabi’s brace, and goals from Fred Amaku and David Ndihabwe led Kitara to a dominant 7-0 victory over Express, propelling them to ninth place on the Uganda Premier League table with 17 points, 11 behind leaders Vipers SC.

Kitara’s resurgence has been remarkable, scoring 21 goals in their last five games without conceding. When asked about the team’s transformation after a poor start to the season, Bbosa attributed the turnaround to their recent two-week break.

“The break helped us understand the players better, and they also got to understand us. We identified the team’s weaknesses and worked hard to address them,” Bbosa explained.

Despite the team’s impressive form, Bbosa remains measured about their ambitions.

“My target when I joined the team was to make Kitara competitive. We will continue striving to collect as many points as possible and see where that takes us,” he said.

Kitara’s recent form has demonstrated their potential to challenge the league’s top sides, but Bbosa is focused on steady improvement rather than title aspirations for now.

The Royals will return to action on January 5, 2025 away as they battle Wakiso Giants and will conclude the first round with tie against SC Villa on January 9.
