Ronald Ssebuguzi, Uganda’s three-time national rally champion, is gearing up for the Pearl of Africa Uganda Rally (POAUR), set to kick off this Thursday in Mbarara with qualifiers. Despite his impressive track record, Ssebuguzi has never claimed victory in the POAUR, and he’s determined to change that.

With his experienced navigator, Anthony Mugambwa, by his side, Ssebuguzi has been fine-tuning his Ford Fiesta Proto, making crucial adjustments to ensure peak performance on Mbarara’s rugged terrain. The duo has studied the route, analyzing every twist and turn to gain a competitive edge.

Ssebuguzi’s motivation is palpable. “I’ve always admired the POAUR’s prestige and challenge. It’s time to add this trophy to my collection if God wishes,” he said in an interview. His confidence is high, fueled by recent performance.

As the qualifiers approach, Ssebuguzi exudes determination. “We’ll push our limits, test our skills, and give it our all. Victory is within reach.” With his sights set on the top step, Ssebuguzi is ready to put on a show in Mbarara. Will this be his year? Only time will tell.

POAUR will be second round of African Rally Championship as well as the third round of National Rally Championship (NRC) where Ssebuguzi is in second place with 30 points only 10 points below leader Ponsiano Lwakataka.
