Lead instructor and veteran tactician Francis Kimanzi is heading an intensive coaching re-validation workshop at the KCB Sports Club in Ruaraka. The week-long program, which kicked off on Monday, brings together top-flight managers from the SportPesa Premier League to refresh and validate their coaching credentials under CAF regulations.

Speaking on site, Kimanzi outlined the core purpose of the workshop: ensuring elite local coaches stay abreast of modern coaching standards and maintain active licensure required by the Confederation of African Football (CAF).

“We have been here at KCB Sports Club since Monday, working with top-tier coaches from the Premier League. The workshop has been very intense because CAF regulations require all coaches to periodically renew and re-validate their licenses to continue practicing at this level.” — Francis Kimanzi told reporters at the venue.

Continuous Development for Elite Tacticians
The cohort consists of 25 elite coaches who previously completed their rigorous six-month CAF A License education during the 2023/24 season. Under CAF regulations, coaching education follows a structured progression path that balances classroom learning with practical application on the field.

CAF mandates a strict maximum of 25 participants per course to ensure high-quality, hands-on instruction over the typical 6- to 6.5-month duration.

Even after achieving CAF A status, managers must participate in regular refresher modules and continuous professional development (CPD) workshops to keep their credentials valid.

The ongoing workshop reflects a broader push to elevate the technical capabilities of top-flight managers in East Africa. By enforcing structured re-validation processes, the Football Kenya Federation (FKF) and CAF aim to raise the overall tactical quality of the domestic league and keep local coaches competitive on the continental stage.
