BUL FC midfielder Mwere Nicholas has been suspended for eight matches and fined UGX 1,000,000 by the FUFA Disciplinary Panel (FDP) after he was found guilty of pushing referee Musisi Henry during the Stanbic Uganda Cup clash between Kitara FC and BUL FC.

The incident, which occurred during a tense moment in the match, was deemed a serious violation of FUFA’s Competition Rules, particularly those protecting match officials from physical confrontation. The standard sanction for such an offense is a 10-match suspension.

However, the FDP noted Mwere’s acceptance of the charge, his formal apology, and his display of remorse. As a result, two matches of the original 10-match suspension were suspended, meaning he will serve an immediate 8-match ban from all FUFA-organised competitions.

This is in addition to the automatic suspension resulting from the red card he received during the same match.

The UGX 1 million fine remains active and must be paid in line with FUFA’s disciplinary enforcement procedures.

FUFA reiterated the importance of respect for referees and maintaining discipline on the pitch, warning that similar offenses would continue to attract strict penalties.

Mwere’s absence presents a significant setback for BUL FC, who are navigating a competitive stretch in both league and cup competitions.
