Heavy rains once again disrupted action in the Women’s National Basketball League on Sunday evening, forcing a halt to the semifinal playoffs scheduled at the YMCA Court in Wandegeya.
What was expected to be a thrilling evening of basketball turned into a washout as torrential rain made the outdoor surface unplayable just before the opening clash between JKL Lady Dolphins and UCU Lady Canons could begin.
With conditions worsening, officials were left with no option but to call off the entire doubleheader, which also included the second semifinal matchup between Magic Stormers and JT Lady Jaguars.
The Federation of Uganda Basketball Associations (FUBA) is now considering moving the remainder of the series to an indoor venue, most likely the Lugogo Arena, to avoid further weather disruptions.
Before the interruption, JT Lady Jaguars had taken a commanding 2–0 lead over Magic Stormers and are on the verge of reaching their maiden Finals appearance, while UCU Lady Canons hold a 1–0 advantage over defending champions JKL Lady Dolphins in the other semifinal.
